Job overview

Patients get care sooner when schedules are managed well. As a Remote Patient Scheduler you will handle inbound and outbound scheduling calls, book and confirm appointments, manage provider calendars, send reminders and keep patient records accurate in the scheduling system.

No prior healthcare or scheduling experience is needed. Paid training covers scheduling software, scheduling policies, EHR systems and HIPAA basics. Specialties and scope depend on the team you join.

This opportunity may suit people searching for patient scheduler jobs, remote medical scheduler jobs, work-from-home patient scheduling jobs, or no experience healthcare jobs.

No Experience Required: We'll Train You

No prior healthcare or scheduling experience is required. Employers provide paid training on scheduling software, policies, verifying patient information and HIPAA, and you learn the work step by step. Many schedulers come from customer service, call center, retail, food service or administrative roles.

Structured Remote Work with Predictable Hours

Patient scheduling runs on scheduled call queues and reminder cycles, usually weekday daytime, with no on-call and no in-person requirements. Both full-time and part-time positions are offered. Discuss your preferred schedule in your interview.

Administrative role, privacy first

This is an administrative role. It does not involve clinical decisions. Clinical questions are routed to the clinical team and concerns are escalated per the employer's protocol. You will handle names, dates of birth, contact details and insurance information, so employers train you on HIPAA awareness and expect strict confidentiality.

What you'll do

  • Book new and follow-up patient appointments
  • Coordinate provider schedules, availability and templates
  • Handle inbound scheduling calls
  • Make outbound calls to schedule, confirm and follow up with patients
  • Support appointment reminders by phone, text and the patient portal
  • Confirm upcoming visits to reduce no-shows
  • Process reschedules and cancellations per scheduling policy
  • Keep patient demographics, contact details and insurance accurate and verify patient information
  • Answer non-clinical scheduling, location and service questions and manage waitlists
  • Coordinate with clinical teams, support multiple providers and locations and document scheduling activity accurately
