Job overview
Claims that stall cost providers time and money. As a Remote Insurance Follow-Up Specialist you will work the AR aging report, prioritize stalled claims, call payers and check portals for status, resolve holds and edits and document each follow-up, so claims keep moving to payment.
No prior healthcare or insurance follow-up experience is needed. Paid training covers payer follow-up workflows, claim statuses, coordination of benefits, payer portals, call documentation and HIPAA basics. Payers and scope depend on the team you join.
This opportunity may suit people searching for insurance follow-up jobs, remote insurance follow-up specialist jobs, work-from-home claims follow-up jobs, or no experience healthcare billing jobs.
No Experience Required: We'll Train You
No prior healthcare, insurance or claims experience is required. Employers provide paid training on payer follow-up, claim statuses, coordination of benefits, payer portals, call scripts and HIPAA, and you learn the work step by step. Many specialists come from billing, claims, call center or medical office roles.
Structured Remote Work with Predictable Hours
Payer follow-up runs on work queues and payer business hours, usually weekday daytime, with no on-call and no in-person requirements. Both full-time and part-time positions are offered. Discuss your preferred schedule in your interview.
Non-clinical role, privacy first
This is an administrative and financial role. It does not involve clinical decisions. You will handle names, medical record numbers, dates of service, procedure codes and payer IDs, so employers train you on HIPAA awareness and expect strict confidentiality. Denials go to the denial management team, and payer discrepancies are escalated per the employer's protocol.
