Job overview
Health information management teams keep records accurate and compliant. As a Remote Health Information Assistant you will process and index records, track chart deficiencies, support chart completion and help with retrieval, release of information and audits under HIM direction.
No prior healthcare or HIM experience is needed, and no RHIT certification is required. Paid training covers HIM workflows, document and EHR systems and HIPAA basics. Record types and scope depend on the team you join.
This opportunity may suit people searching for health information assistant jobs, remote HIM assistant jobs, work-from-home health information jobs, or no experience healthcare jobs.
No Experience Required: We'll Train You
No prior healthcare or HIM experience and no RHIT certification is required. Employers provide paid training on HIM workflows, deficiency tracking, record retrieval and HIPAA, and you learn the work step by step. Many assistants come from administrative, clerical, file management or data entry roles.
Structured Remote Work with Predictable Hours
Health information work runs on HIM queues and record deadlines, usually weekday daytime, with no on-call and no in-person requirements. Both full-time and part-time positions are offered. Discuss your preferred schedule in your interview.
Administrative HIM role, privacy first
This is an administrative role. It does not involve clinical decisions. Release of information and chart analysis tasks are performed under HIM direction. Record discrepancies and issues affecting patient records are escalated per the employer's protocol. You will handle names, medical record numbers and clinical data, so employers train you on HIPAA awareness and expect strict confidentiality.
