Job overview
A denied claim is not the end of the road. As a Remote Denial Management Assistant you will track and categorize denials, look for root causes, prepare appeal letters and documentation, submit and track appeals and follow up with payers, so valid claims get paid.
No prior healthcare or denial experience is needed. Paid training covers denial reason codes, appeals workflows, payer requirements, denial and billing systems and HIPAA basics. Payers and scope depend on the team you join.
This opportunity may suit people searching for denial management jobs, remote denial management assistant jobs, work-from-home appeals jobs, or no experience healthcare billing jobs.
No Experience Required: We'll Train You
No prior healthcare, billing or denial experience is required. Employers provide paid training on denial reason codes, appeals writing, payer portals, denial systems and HIPAA, and you learn the work step by step. Many assistants come from billing, claims, insurance or administrative roles.
Structured Remote Work with Predictable Hours
Denial management runs on work queues and payer appeal deadlines, usually weekday daytime, with no on-call and no in-person requirements. Both full-time and part-time positions are offered. Discuss your preferred schedule in your interview.
Non-clinical role, privacy first
This is an administrative and financial role. It does not involve clinical decisions. You will handle names, medical record numbers, dates of service, procedure codes, payer IDs and clinical documentation, so employers train you on HIPAA awareness and expect strict confidentiality. Discrepancies and issues affecting appeals are escalated per the employer's protocol.
What you'll do
- Track denials as they come in from payers
- Categorize denials by reason code and type
- Analyze denial reasons to identify root causes and trends by payer, service or code
- Prepare payer-specific appeal letters and supporting documentation
- Gather clinical documentation for appeals
- Submit appeals through payer portals and channels
- Track appeals through adjudication and follow up with payers
- Escalate unresolved appeals and support second-level appeals per payer protocol
- Support claim corrections and resubmissions after denials
- Coordinate with coding and clinical teams and document denial activity accurately
